Introducing Voicemail Call Recall 

When a caller is diverted to your Voicemail and hangs up during the greeting, Voicemail Call Recall captures the call information and sends it to you by way of a Short Message Service (SMS).

If the callers name or number is in your phone book, then the SMS will actually show the callers details, allowing you to reply SMS directly to the caller.

Never miss caller information with Voicemail Call Recall. When a caller diverts to your Voicemail and hangs up during the greeting, Voicemail Call Recall captures the call information and sends it to you via SMS.

  • Receive notification of a caller’s number to your mobile phone via an SMS message making it quick and easy to return a call.
  • Return the call or send an SMS message.
  • If the caller is in your phone book, their details will be displayed in the SMS message and you can reply via SMS directly to the caller.
  • Voicemail Call Recall is simple for you to activate and deactivate.


Activating this Service 

This service is available on Soul pre-paid and post-paid mobiles.

Voicemail Call Recall is automatically activated, as part of the Voicemail service, free of charge when you activate your mobile service.



Using this Service 

Once you receive an SMS with a caller’s number you can return the call immediately or return an SMS. Please note: The Voicemail Call Recall service will not work if you do not have Voicemail activated on your mobile service.


Turning the Voicemail Call Recall service on and off via SMS  

  • SMS “ON” or “OFF”
  • Send to 147

To turn Voicemail Call Recall on via your mobile phone  

  • Press 147
  • Listen to welcome announcement
  • Listen to instruction
  • Press 1 to activate

To turn Voicemail Call Recall off via your mobile phone  

  • Press 147
  • Listen to welcome announcement
  • Listen to instruction
  • Press 2 to deactivate

Turning the Voicemail Call Recall service on or off via Optus Zoo  

If you are a registered Optus Zoo customer you may also turn the Voicemail Call Recall service on or off from the Optus Zoo website:

  • Select My Account
  • Select My Missed Call Service
  • Select My Call Recall
  • Select on or off


Costs of Using this Service 

Your Voicemail box is automatically activated, free of charge, when you activate your mobile service. There is no subscription fee and you only need to pay for what you use.

  • There is no monthly charge to use Voicemail Call Recall and there is no charge to switch the service on or off.
  • SMS’s sent to you via Call Recall are not charged.
  • SMS and call charges apply when replying or calling the caller.
  • Please refer to your call plan brochure for further details.

How can I check if Voicemail Call Recall is active?

  • You can check Voicemail Call Recall is active by contacting the mobile service when it is switched off and hanging up before the welcome message is complete. If an SMS is then received it means the service is active.
  • You can also check the status of Voicemail Call Recall by going to the Optus Zoo website and following these steps:
    • Select My Account
    • Select My Missed Call Service
    • Select My Call Recall.

Why am I not receiving an SMS from the Voicemail Call Recall service?

  • Any existing diversions or SMS suspensions will affect this service.
    • To check the set diversions on your mobile phone please refer to your mobile phone user manual for instructions.
  • For details on adding or removing an SMS suspension contact us on our Customer Care number.
  • Mobile phones have a limited capacity for storing SMS text messages and are unable to receive more messages when full. If full, a flashing envelope on your mobile phone display indicates that your SMS inbox is full. Delete some or all saved SMS messages.
  • The caller may have hidden their information by blocking Caller ID on their phone service.

Why is my Voicemail Call Recall Service not working?

  • This service may not be active on your Voicemail service. Follow the instructions in the ‘Using This Service’ section of this factsheet to activate the service.

What is the difference between Voicemail Call Recall and the Missed Call Service?

  • Voicemail Call Recall works with Voicemail active on your mobile phone service.
  • The Missed Call Service can only work without Voicemail.

Can I choose to activate the Missed Call Service once I have Voicemail Call Recall?

  • No, these services are incompatible.

Is this service available on Soul prepaid services?

  • Yes, this service is available on Soul prepaid services.
