Introducing Smart Ring 

Smart Ring allows you to allocate distinctive ringtones to individual phone numbers or groups of phone numbers on your home phone service.



Features and Benefits 

Smart Ring allows you to allocate distinctive ringtones to individual phone numbers or groups of phone numbers. Now you can assign a personalised ringtone for your friends, work colleagues and family. Smart Ring helps you to identify the caller or caller group without viewing the phone display.

  • Create your own ‘Smart Ring Lists’ and separate your personal and business calls.
  • Assign 1 of 3 distinctive ringtones to each Smart Ring List.
  • Calls not linked to the Smart Ring List will have the normal ringtone of the telephone.
  • Smart Ring is compatible with most tone phones.


Activating this Service 

To activate Smart Ring please visit the ‘Contact Us’ section of our website or call our Customer Care number. The service may take up to 48 hours to activate.



Using this Service 

Smart Ring is an optional enhanced service that can be added to your existing home phone service. Once activated, the Smart Ring service is easy to turn on and off. You need to use your PIN to add or remove numbers from the Smart Ring Lists.


Personal Identification Number (PIN)  

  • Smart Ring requires a PIN to turn the service on or off.
  • A default PIN will be issued to you when Smart Ring is connected.
  • It is recommended you change your PIN as soon as possible.
  • Your PIN can be changed as often as you like but only from your home phone.
  • If you have an existing PIN for another home phone service, the same PIN can be used.

Changing your PIN  

  • Wait for dial tone.
  • Press * 30.
  • Press the default PIN.
  • Press *, enter new PIN.
  • Press *, re enter new PIN, #.
  • Listen to the announcement confirming the PIN has successfully changed.
  • Hang up.

To Turn Smart Ring on  

  • Wait for dial tone.
  • Press * 88 #.
  • Listen to the announcement confirming the service is on.
  • Hang up.

To Turn Smart Ring off  

  • Wait for dial tone.
  • Press # 88 #.
  • Listen to the announcement confirming the service is off.
  • Hang up.

To check if Smart Ring is on or off  

  • Wait for dial tone.
  • Press * # 88 #.
  • Listen to the announcement confirming the status.
  • Hang up.

To add or change a number on a Smart Ring List  

  • Wait for dial tone.
  • Press * 87.
  • Enter your PIN and press *.
  • Listen to the announcement for options.
  • Press 1, 2 or 3 to select the ringtone.
  • Press *.
  • Listen to the announcement for instructions.
  • Enter list position number.
  • Press *.
  • Listen to the announcement for instructions.
  • Enter phone number and press # (ensuring the area code is entered).
  • Listen to the announcement confirming the number has been added or changed.
  • Hang up.

To remove a number from a Smart Ring List  

  • Wait for dial tone.
  • Press # 87 PIN *.
  • Listen to the announcement for options.
  • Press 1, 2 or 3 to select the ringtone.
  • Press *.
  • Listen to the announcement for instructions.
  • Press 1.
  • Listen to the announcement for instructions.
  • Enter list position number.
  • Press #.
  • Listen to the announcement confirming the number has been removed.
  • Hang up.

How to check which number is in a particular position in a Smart Ring List  

  • Wait for dial tone.
  • Press * # 87 PIN *.
  • Listen to the announcement for options.
  • Press 1, 2 or 3 to select the ringtone.
  • Press *.
  • Listen to the announcement for instructions.
  • Enter list position number.
  • Press #.
  • Listen to the announcement of caller's number.
  • Hang up.

Removing Smart Ring  

If you no longer wish to use Smart Ring, you can have the service removed from your home phone. To do so please visit the ‘Contact Us’ section of our website, or call our Customer Care number.

This service has a monthly charge. For current charges, please use the ‘Contact Us’ section of our website or call our Customer Care number.


Viewing Smart Ring charges on your Bill  

Your Smart Ring service monthly charge is shown as a service charge, along with your line rental for your home phone service.

Why doesn’t Smart Ring work on my phone?

  • Older phones, non-tone phones and some cordless phones may not be compatible with Smart Ring.

What is a List Position?

  • Each list can have up to 15 phone numbers. The list position is the position the phone number is on the list.

What can I do if I cannot remember my PIN?

  • If you have forgotten or lost your PIN, please use the ‘Contact Us’ section our website or call our Customer Care number.

Can I use Smart Ring with Soul Phone Fax or Multi-Number ?

  • No. Smart Ring is not compatible with Soul Phone Fax or Multiple Number.
