SOUL in the Community
SOUL helps to raise money for a broad range of charities throughout the year. SOUL staff are encouraged to participate in theme days and special "days", such as Red Nose Day, and special events such as Telethon and the annual Christmas pageant.
Here are just some of our fund-raising and community efforts to date:
National "Lock up Your Boss" day: was held on Friday 15th August in support of Kids Helpline. This involved three Managers being locked up, hand cuffed and fitted out in a prisoner's uniforms. To be released from jail they had to raised $500 bail each. SOUL staff managed to raise an amazing total of $1686.90.
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea: was held on Friday 23rd May to support the Cancer Foundation. Staff were encouraged to make a gold coin donation before enjoying a fabulous morning tea.
Shave for a Cure: was held on Friday the 14th of March 2003 with not only SOUL staff but senior management getting involved. Participants shaved or coloured their hair to raise funds for leukaemia research and patient support. SOUL did tremendously well, raising funds of approximately $1,500.
Christmas Pageant. The streets of the City of Perth come alive with the colour and magic of the annual RAC/Channel Seven Christmas Pageant held on December 7th 2002. Watch out for SOUL's very own float!! It's sure to be packed with fun from end-to-end, including spectacular floats, bands, clowns, Seven personalities and, of course, Santa with his reindeers.
Telethon. This year we have a SOUL Volunteer Team representing our company in the Telethon Telephone Room from 6:30-9:30pm on Saturday 19th October, 2002. Thankyou to everyone who has volunteered to be a part of the team – it will be a fantastic event and supports a great cause!
The Walk to Cure Diabetes: was held on the Sunday 13th October with the SOUL team walking 7 kms and raising $116.50, which will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Thankyou to everyone who sponsored the SOUL Team.
The Cancer Council's Daffodil Day: was held on the 22nd of August 2002 and Daffodil Day pens, badges and lapel Daffodils were available for SOUL staff to purchase, or they could simply offer a gold coin as a donation.
Spina Bifida Foundation. To help us celebrate the expansion of the SOUL call centre at the official opening ceremony on Tuesday the 13th of August, a special guest was invited - Big Brother 2 housemate Nathan Morris!
- The Cancer Council's Daffodil Day: was held again on Friday the 22nd of August 2003 with staff purchasing pens, ribbons, pins and of course Daffodils. SOUL raised a total of $382.00 which was donated to The Cancer Council to fight cancer, the no.1 health issue facing Australians today.
SOUL staff could have their picture taken with Nathan for a gold coin donation to charity. At the end of the event, SOUL added their own donation, and a total of $500.00 was raised for the Spina Bifida Foundation.
Red Nose Day: is a fundraising event to help build awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). This year's SIDS mascot is the frog, so on Friday 28th June, SOUL had a green and/or red dress day in the call centre to promote and raise money for this worthy cause. Thanks to everyone's generosity, SOUL raised $226.00 for for the Sids and Kids foundation of Western Australia.
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea. Due to the generosity of the SOUL staff, not only did we get to enjoy a yummy morning tea, but we also raised $130.35 in support of the Cancer Foundation's goal towards a cancer-free future.
Dress Red for Heart Day: is a national fundraising day to support the Heart foundation in its fight against cardiovascular disease. This year on Friday the 3rd of May, everyone at SOUL was encouraged to wear red and buy a sticker for a donation of $2, to raise funds to help in the fight against Australia's number one killer.
